Backgammon is one of the oldest and most popular board games in the world. It is believed to have been invented in the 17th century in the Eastern Mediterranean region, and the game has been played by millions of people in many different countries. It is very popular in many regions of the world, including Europe, Asia, North America, South America, Australia, and Africa. The game is played by two players, who play on a board that is divided into 64 squares. Each player starts with 16 pieces, and the pieces can be moved from one square to another.

The goal is to move your own pieces, called "pawns", from the starting square to the other side of the board, while at the same time keeping your opponent's pieces, called "pawns", from moving to your side. The way to move a pawn is to roll the dice that are located on the square that the pawn is located on. If the dice roll is equal to 6, then the pawn will be moved one square to the left; if the dice roll is equal to 4, then the pawn will be moved one square to the right; and if the dice roll is equal to 3, then the pawn will be moved one square to the left or right, according to the result of the dice roll.
